In belief in the role of journalism and the responsible media as partners in ongoing development efforts, in line with the visions and objectives of the comprehensive development process of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, may God protect him, and in a way that enhances the contributions of journalists within Team Bahrain and supports the comprehensive development process of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Prime Minister’s Press Award is held annually under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him. The award includes 10 categories.
Objectives of the Award:
- To celebrate and honor journalists and recognize their significant contributions.
- To encourage creativity and excellence in the Bahraini journalistic content industry.
- To foster a spirit of competition among media institutions to provide the best journalistic content.
- To encourage young media talent in journalism and media colleges and open up opportunities for them.
- To diversify digital journalistic content on newspaper websites and social media accounts.
Who is eligible for the award:
- Employees of licensed press institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
- Students of media colleges and departments at Bahraini universities.
- Media figures nominated for the Journalist Personality of the Year award.
Approved award categories:
Best Opinion Column, Best Investigative Report, Best Interview, Best Photojournalism, Best Specialized Page or Supplement, Best Visual Journalistic Content (Video), Best Infographic, Best Website and Online Account, Best University Student Journalism Project, and Journalist Personality of the Year.
